Frequently Asked Questions

Why do law enforcement agencies use Faraday bags?

Exposed signals create two main risks: risk to digital evidence and risk to operational security (OPSEC).

  1. A phone seized at a crime scene stays open to remote wipe or tampering unless it is isolated.
  2. Officers carrying live devices are also exposed to location tracking and RF detection, which can put personnel and active operations at risk.

A GoDark bag isolates the device from incoming and outgoing signals, which preserves both the evidence and the officer's OPSEC.

Is there special pricing for agencies?

Yes. Visit our Law Enforcement page to request a quote or access government pricing, or email sales@godarkbags.com. A verified government email address is required.

What are the dimensions of each bag?

All dimensions are height x width.

  • Phone bag: Inside 8.25 x 4.75 in (21.0 x 12.1 cm). Outside 9.50 x 6.00 in (24.1 x 15.2 cm).
  • Tablet bag: Inside 12.00 x 8.50 in (30.5 x 21.6 cm). Outside 13.75 x 9.50 in (34.9 x 24.1 cm).
  • Laptop bag: Inside 13.25 x 16.50 in (33.7 x 41.9 cm). Outside 14.75 x 17.75 in (37.5 x 45.1 cm).
What's the difference between the phone, tablet, and laptop bags?

Only the size. All three bags in the Forensics Series share the same features: serial numbers and an evidence tag window for chain of custody, 3 layers of GoDark® RF shielding fabric, an inner protective liner, a shock-absorbing foam layer, a 500D water-resistant ballistic nylon exterior, and a hook-and-loop closure.

Do officers need technical training to use GoDark bags?

No. GoDark is a physical solution to digital threats. Placing a device in the bag is all it takes to preserve evidence or protect an officer's location. No technical or cybersecurity background is required.

Why 3 layers of shielding?

We moved our line from the industry standard of 2 shielding layers to 3 layers. 2 layers passed the requirements for law enforcement and military. We upgraded for added durability and to ensure protection around supercharged towers or specialized military equipment.
