Protecting your phones, tablets, laptops, radios, solar chargers and other portable devices in the unfortunate event of an EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) is a crucial step in disaster preparedness.
Even without functioning cell towers, ensuring you have access to survival and first aid guides, offline maps and mesh network communications could make all the difference in a disaster.
LIke all GoDark® Faraday Bags, these dry bags satisfy the MIL-STD-188-125-2 test which is a standardized military test for EMP shielding.
Ensuring your electronics work when you need them to in a disaster means full protection from the elements, not just an EMP. Most other dry bag Faraday bags have an IPX6 water rating which DOES NOT support full submersion.
We went the extra mile and added an additional clear plastic water skirt to the top of our bags ensuring a waterproof rating of IPX7 which will help protect your devices in the event they become fully submerged.
We’ve taken great care to ensure the signal blocking abilities of all GoDark Faraday Bags do not easily become compromised with regular wear and tear.
GoDark bags are made with a very durable 600D Poly Outer Shell with a PU face coat and a TPU backing that is both waterproof and puncture resistant. A thin inner padding and felt liner further protect the signal blocking material from being damaged with repeated use.
While that may seem like a good option for some, it is not necessarily a good option for everyone and it often depends on your situation. In most cases the GoDark Faraday Bag is used for short periods where you are particularly concerned about your privacy, yet still want quick access to your phone and camera for safety or other reasons. Journalists, activists, business travelers, and anyone else who wants to preserve their privacy can still take comfort in knowing they can have their phone out and photos rolling or emergency calls dialed while others are still waiting for their phone to power-up.
Is your phone is really off? Good question. Modern smartphones are made up of several systems and subsystems. One of these subsystems, often referred to as the base band, controls and operates the radio transmitter and receiver and is capable of operating quite interdependently from your phone's main operating system. This allows your phone to appear to be "turned off" while the radio subsystem remains powered and operational.
When you turn your phone off it is quite possible that it is simply in a low power state with full receiving and transmitting capability and you would never know it. The screen will be off and there will be no detectable heat giving you the false impression that your phone is fully off and you are safe from tracking. A good example of this being used is Apple's "Find My " app
According to Apple "Find My helps you locate this iPhone when it is lost or stolen, even when it is in power reserve mode or when powered off".
The simple fact is, it's becoming more and more difficult to know for sure what our phones, tablets, laptops and other mobile devices are really doing, and for those with a very high need for privacy, the GoDark Faraday Bag provides significant additional peace of mind.
Up to 4G, this bag will make your cellphones “go dark”. I don’t have a 5G device so I can’t verify if this bag works on those devices.
When you want to go dark….go dark
